Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about planning a medical trip to China with us.
Safety & hospitals
Are the hospitals safe and reputable?
Yes. Treatment takes place at Grade-3A hospitals — China's highest classification — that run government-approved international medical services with officially published, regulated price schedules.
What does “Grade-3A” actually mean?
It is the top tier of China's national hospital rating system, assessed on scale, specialist staffing, equipment and clinical standards. Only a small share of hospitals qualify, and they are the country's major teaching and referral centres.
Who will actually treat me?
The hospital's own senior physicians in the relevant department — typically attending or professor level, and many with international training or published research. We tell you which team is handling your case before you commit to anything.
How do standards compare to hospitals at home?
Equipment and clinical protocols at these hospitals are comparable to major Western centres. The day-to-day experience is different: hospitals are busier, appointments are shorter, and family are expected to be more hands-on. We brief you on all of it beforehand so nothing comes as a surprise.
What happens if there is a complication?
You are treated at the same hospital by the same team, and your coordinator stays with you and rearranges flights and accommodation as needed. We arrange and coordinate care — we do not provide it, and no one can guarantee a medical outcome. See our medical disclaimer.
What happens to my medical records?
They are shared only with the hospital and doctors assessing your case, with your consent, so they can prepare a treatment plan and quote. They are not sold or shared with anyone else. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Cost & payment
How much can I really save?
Depending on the procedure, patients typically save 50–80% versus prices in the US, UK or Australia, because Chinese public-hospital pricing is regulated and published.
What is included in the price you quote?
The hospital's own charge for the procedure and stay, plus our coordination: scheduling, the medical visa invitation, airport transfers, interpreting and on-the-ground support throughout. Flights and hotels are arranged for you and shown separately at cost.
How do I get a quote, and how is it worked out?
Send us your procedure and preferred dates through the contact page, WeChat or email. We pass your details to the hospital's international department, they price it against their published schedule, and we return that to you within 48 hours with our fee shown separately. It is free and carries no obligation.
When and how do I pay?
Hospital charges are paid to the hospital directly, generally on admission — there is no large deposit to send abroad in advance. Our own fee is agreed in writing before anything is booked.
Are there hidden costs?
No. The quote itemises everything known at the time. If the doctors recommend something additional after examining you in person, you are told the price first and can decline.
Will my insurance cover this?
Most Western policies do not cover elective treatment abroad, though some cover part of it. We provide itemised invoices and full records to support a claim, but we cannot guarantee reimbursement — check with your insurer before you travel.
Travel & visas
Do you help with the visa?
Yes. We arrange the medical visa invitation and guide you through the application, along with flights, hotels and airport transfers.
Do you book flights and hotels too?
Yes. We book both and put you close to the hospital, and we arrange every airport and hospital transfer so you are never working out local transport on your own.
How far ahead should I plan?
After you share your details we respond within 48 hours with a plan and quote. For most planned procedures there are then four to eight weeks between that first quote and travelling, with the visa usually the limiting step. Faster is sometimes possible — ask us.
How long will I be in China?
It depends entirely on the procedure. A typical stay runs one to three weeks, covering consultation, treatment and enough recovery for the doctor to clear you to fly. Your quote states the expected stay up front.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, and we encourage it. We arrange their visa, flights and accommodation alongside yours, and for inpatient stays we place them close by.
During your stay
Will there be a language barrier?
No. A bilingual coordinator manages your case in English from your first message and is with you on the ground throughout your stay.
What does the coordinator actually do?
They meet you at the airport, come to every appointment, interpret for you, handle hospital admissions and paperwork, and stay reachable for the whole trip. They are your single point of contact.
Where will I stay?
In vetted hotels or serviced apartments close to the hospital. For inpatient procedures you stay in the hospital's international ward, with anyone travelling with you accommodated nearby.
What about dietary needs or medication I already take?
Tell us in advance — halal, vegetarian, allergies and anything else are all arranged for. Bring your current medication with its prescription, and your coordinator can help resupply locally if you run short.
Do I need a Chinese phone number or payment app?
It helps, and your coordinator sets both up with you on arrival. Transfers are arranged in advance either way, so you are never dependent on hailing a taxi or paying for one yourself.
After treatment
What follow-up do I get?
You leave with a discharge summary, imaging and your full records in English, and the treating team stays reachable through us for post-treatment questions once you are home.
Will my own doctor accept the records?
Records are supplied in English in standard formats so they can be read anywhere. We strongly recommend telling your own doctor before you travel, so your follow-up care is planned rather than improvised.
When will I be cleared to fly home?
The treating doctor decides, based on how your recovery is going. Your quote builds in the expected recovery days, and if you need longer we rebook your flights and accommodation.
What if something goes wrong after I get home?
Contact us and we relay it to the treating team and help you arrange a local review. For anything urgent, seek emergency care where you are first, then tell us — we coordinate care, we do not provide it.
